Then&Now: Bridal Gowns With Pockets

I picked up an old issue of Weddingbells from 1999 and found an article about the current trend in wedding dresses- pockets! Not quite ten years later, designers have begun again showing gowns with pockets. Predictions are that it will be a major trend in 2009!

Then- In 1999, Catherine Regehr designed this white silk peau-de-soie shirt with rhinestone buttons and matching skirt with deep pockets.

Then- Sculpted side pockets are trimmed with beading that are also on the hem of a silk dress created by St. Pucchi

Then– A two-piece ensemble has a white lace camisole and skirt with side-seam pockets from Erisa Collection.

Now- A beautiful gown with pockets designed by Angel Sanchez as part of his 2008 line.

Now- Bill Blass for Spring/Summer 2009 has pockets on their bridal dresses.

Looking for a bridal dress with pockets?

  1. Regarding the bridal line for Mary’s Bridal… I have seen pockets in some of their wedding gowns over the years. And from what I remember they only put in one pocket in the sideseam of the skirt. They mostly put the pocket in their big ball gown style dresses… since the pocket is easier to conceal in that style. I am sure they probably still put pockets in some of their gowns.

Anyone who wants a pocket in their wedding dress can have one put in their gown by a skilled wedding dress maker.
