Q- Who are you?
A- My name is 
Q- What is your design background?
In college I studied art and anthropology graduating with a degree in Interior Design. I’ve worked for two major department stores doing window displays, fashion shows, etc. Other designers have hired me for design related jobs. I’ve also done freelance decorative painting and stage sets.
Q- What is ‘Nibs?’
A- Nibs (started in 2007) is my blog where I continue to post my interests, ideas and occasional projects in photography, gardening, fashion, art, interior design and weddings, etc.
Q- Can I use material from ‘Nibs’ for my blog, Tumblr or Pinterest?
A- The answer is both Yes…and No.
Yes…feel free to peruse the archives. Most photographs and /or information are available for reblogging purposes with the request that you link back to the original Nibs post.
No… Starting in 2013 my own personal work & photographs are now copyrighted. Please contact me for written permission.
Note- This post from Chelsea is helpful with regards to using & crediting photographs from other blogs.
Q- Has your work been posted elsewhere?
A- Yes. My fireplace mantel series has been featured on HGTV, Apartment Therapy , The Lettered Cottage. My garden gate & arbor are on Country Living.

Char- The book doesn’t list an author just the publishers…Cassell & Company. I got the images using my scanner. You can find ‘Wonders..’ on ebay…it’s listed pretty often.

Hello. I love your fireplace mantel using the fabric squares. I was wondering how you adhered the fabric to the wall. Also, how do you clean it once the fabric is up…I’m wondering if you could vacuum it with a soft brush attachment? I have Pinned this on the website Pinterest to show everyone what great work you do. I run a fabric store on ETSY under dorothyprudiefabrics, so needless to say I have a lot of fabric. Stop by my store if you get a chance. I love your ideas. Thanks.

Hi Dorothy,
So glad you enjoy ‘A Hippie Vibe‘ fireplace. About putting fabric on walls…there are several different methods. You can do it like wallpaper…prepping the walls with a special sealer and then a paste that’s made for hanging fabric (check your local wallpaper store as they can help you). This is the way I mounted fabric in our master bedroom. The next one is to apply furring strips (thin pieces of wood) to the walls measuring the width of your fabric. You use a staple gun and shoot staples through the fabric into the strips. The last way is bypassing the furring strips and shoot directly into the plaster/lathe or sheetrock. This is what I did for the mantel series on Nibs. When I finished, I was able to patch up any small holes left by the staples with spackle.
About cleaning…yes, I use a vacuum with a brush attachment on my bedroom walls and it works great.
