Learning To See

#7. Two pictures- same theme, different perspectives. Both images show houses on fire with fascinating foregrounds. In the first, the photographer took his image through a metal swing set. I don’t know if it was a conscious decision but it is effective. There is such contrast between the innocence of the plaything and the horror of flames just beyond it. The photograph below, done by photographer Joel Sternfeld , is amazing. The color of  the yellow-orange pumpkins as part of the farm stand is repeated in the flames engulfing the old house’s roof. Here the contrast comes from a lone man’s disregard of the ongoing destruction.
