Learning To See

I love poking around ebay to find images that are initially intriguing. Later I examine them more carefully. All in an effort to see better.

#6. Two pictures- same theme, different perspectives. The top image is from World War ll with four similarly dressed sailors sweeping the deck. I don’t know if the placement of the men was intentional but the photographer captured a wonderful composition here. They are actively working (notice no eye contact) and they fill the entire frame. The bottom image is from the Korean War with another four sailors. Despite being a posed shot, the men’s body language says it all- they are confident, relaxed and personable.
