Amelia Earhart’s first flight was in 1920 when she and her father were visiting an airfield in Long Island Beach, California. Aviator Frank Hawks offered to take her up and by the time they were airborne she knew she wanted a career in the cockpit. Three years later she would become the sixteenth woman to earn her pilot’s license and flight pin.
A fun accessory to add to the lapel of your blazer- a vintage metal World War II air transport command flight pin from ebay. Bidding ends January 10.
