I first met Madeleine when we were in birthing classes together. We were the same age and each expecting our first child. We shared with one another our excitement and fears at the prospect of being new parents. She later gave birth to a girl and I had Curtis. We kept in touch through the years and enjoyed letting our kids play together. On those occasions I remember thinking how beautiful Madeleine was and how much motherhood suited her. She had a second child- a boy. Her life was full.
And then she found the lump in her breast and life became a different story. A story about cancer. Within three short years Madeleine was dead- leaving behind her husband and two small children.
The Think Pink posts on Nibs this week are dedicated to my dear friend Madeleine.
